This building has been a problem in the past. I've reported it to the city. Please monitor the site and check in in a few days to let us know if it's been taken care of.

    Thanks.

Is this where the bike trail crosses the road? Yeah they need so stripe the crosswalk, and I'm sure it's on someone's to-do list.

Maybe because there is another cross walk 50 feet away at the stop sign?

Not only is the dog apparently suffering, but the neighbors are for sure suffering. Perhaps a visit to the substation on Blatchley is in order so that you can find out what your options are. Perhaps you can talk to the neighbors and get a calling campaign going with the police non-emergency number. And after 10 PM, perhaps you can make a formal complaint calling into effect the noise law violation. Is the animal at all aggressive? If so you surely have a strong case for getting at least an evaluation from animal control as to whether or not the dog is a danger. Maybe even a cruelty complaint can be lodged? And maybe banging on the door at 2 in the morning to request that they silence the dog would clue them in to your displeasure. Perhaps if they do not care about the dog's discomfort they will care about their own. Would be nice if you could talk to your neighbors and get them all in on the action. If you can find out who the owner of the house is, some serioius communication with him/her may be in order. What about the Livable Something Initiative which deals with quality of life issues? You have my sympathy for sure.

Pequonnock Yacht Club using ramp - again Open

I think it's PYC's responsibility to fix their own equipment in a timely fashion so as to not put a burden on the neighborhood, the Sound School, and others. The Sound School boat ramp is not a public ramp, the PYC guests and others can use the public ramp in West Haven, etc.

    Blank jj (Guest) 2012-05-21

I remain about this situation as well. PYC can be challenging to deal with. There seem to be many people who speak on PYC's behalf, and we often hear many different stories regarding the same issue. It would be very useful to find out who exactly is authorized to speak for PYC, and what their enforcement and communication policies are regarding interactions with the community and use of neighboring facilities.

    Blank debbie (Guest) 2012-05-21

Apparently, the lift was damaged in Irene. According to the PYC liason to the neighborhood the PYC sustained over 1.3 million dollars in damage during Irene. They are working to repair their docks and the lift. I suspect that the lift will not be operational in time for the start of their boating season. Also, the PYC neglected to tell the neighborhhod about all their "guests" that come down to spend the weekend baoting with their PYC friends. The guests do not have a boat slip and have to pay a fee in order to use the lift. So, it is my suspicion that someone advised the PYC that the boat ramp was public use and their guests could just put their boats in there versus paying the fee.

    Image_small_square Karen Nakamura 2012-05-20

Thanks for being so active on this issue. Since PYC has their own boat lift, why don't they just use that to put the boats in the water?

They're infected with anthracnose. The only practical control is to keep the leaves raked and bagged before each rain, since rainfall is the primary way of spreading the disease. [BTW, those actually are London Plane trees: a hybrid between Oriental & American Sycamore.] More here: http://www.na.fs.fed.us/spfo/pubs/fidls/anthracnose_east/

Thank you, Tree Hugger! I guess we can close this issue.

    Blank Tree Hugger 2011 2012-05-21

A lot of rain led to a lot of growth very rapidly. Then the rain stopped. The trees needed more water to support all that new growth. They can drop leaves to adjust. Also, London Plane trees are susceptible to anthracnose but are resistant to it enough that leaves are lost but it does not kill the tree. It may kill off branches over time. Nothing can be done. Let nature take its course.

    Prefered_headshot_small_square Ben 2012-05-21

    Hey Pam,
I am concerned about this too. They have never lost their leaves this early. Maybe URI can help.

Whose kid has to die so we can get the out of control traffic under control in the Cove??
They should have passed the Park entrance fee and ticketed the ^(&( out of cars mobbing up the nearby roads. All we do is pay taxes in the Cove. What a disgrace.
